Alstonville
Alstonville is a town located in the northern New South Wales with a population of 5,000.It is considered the service center of Alstonville Plateu.
The town got its name from a small tree that is well loved and grown in many parts of Australia for its brilliant purple flowers, the Tibouchina 'Alstonville' (Tibouchina lepidota) which was developed by a resident named Ken Dunstan.
Alstonville is a laid back town where almost everything is accessible by foot or on bike as a path runs between Bulwinkel Park and the shopping center at Wollongbar. Travelling in and out of town is normally done by car as bus services are limited. Buses do not travel in or out of Alstonville during nights and weekends.
This little town is an ideal getaway for those who want to be able to escape the busy life in the city. After travelling on foot to the shopping center at Wollongbar, one could head out to the various parks and sporting facilities to catch some action, either as a spectator or perhaps to join the fun for a little bit of exercise. Alstonville boasts of a local Soccer Club located at the Alstonville and District Local Club. The town also has a Rugby and Field Hockey Clubs for young enthusiasts.
